Let's learn how to use essential oils for everyday use with these simple, tried, and true hacks. From cleaning to spot treatments to natural bug repellent, these hacks are going to make your life a little easier and a lot healthier.

This tip is one that you won’t want to miss and probably the most simple on the whole list. Next time you are changing out the trash bag, grab your Lemon essential oil. Add a few drops to a cotton ball in the bottom of the can before putting the bag in to freshen the space and cover up odor. This can also be used in the back of cabinets and drawers!

If your trash can already has an odor that isn’t going away, wash it out with dish soap and water; then allow it to air dry (preferably outside where there’s fresh air flow). Once dry, put in a fresh trash bag. Sprinkle 2-4 Tablespoons of baking soda into the bottom of the trash bag. The baking soda will help absorb odors. Then add 4-5 drops of your favorite essential oil to a cotton ball and toss that into the bag as well. When the bag is full everything goes out to the trash and you can start again. I actually have baking soda, along with some cotton balls and essential oil, right by my kitchen sink so it’s ready to use.

If you’ve ever purchased a brand new vase, bowl, or candle, you’ve most likely had to deal with the struggle of removing tough adhesive. Luckily, Lemon essential oil is an excellent resource for removing even the most stubborn of stickers. 

Ingredients

2 tablespoons baking soda
5 drops Lemon essential oil
1 cup water
Cleansing wipe or towel
Instructions

1. For sticker removal, first peel off the parts of the sticker that will come off easily. If paper remnants are left behind, the solution should still be able to soak through.
2. Combine baking soda, Lemon, and water in a small bowl or dish. 
3. Apply mixture to sticky surface and let soak for 2–5 minutes. 
4. Use a damp towel or cleansing wipe to remove adhesive easily.

Note: Lemon essential oil can also be used on its own to remove adhesive by applying one or two drops to an adhesive surface.

Adding a couple of drops of essential oils to your vacuum bag will create a homemade diffuser every time you vacuum. If you don’t have a vacuum with a bag, put a couple of drops on a cotton ball and add to the bin.

 Have you ever used those white foamy magic erasers? I used to always have these on hand. Face it, any of us with little children have at one point walked into their room just as they were putting their finishing touches on their wall drawings. Now all I use is lemon essential oil and a rag.

Put a couple of drops of lemon oil on crayon or marker spots and wipe it away. Viola! It is gone! I have used this trick on walls, furniture and even clothes.

 To keep your bathroom smelling fresh, try out this simple essential oil hack. Put a couple of drops of oil on the inside of the cardboard on the toilet paper roll.

You can also put a couple of drops of oil in the bottom of the bathroom trash can, on the bath mats, and on towels.
